Klaus Strunz, CEO and Editorial Director of Euronews, proposed making Tashkent a permanent venue for the International Media Forum titled 'Islamic Civilization: A New Perspective – New Discoveries' and organizing it on an annual basis.
According to Strunz, such a regular forum could serve as a meeting place for journalists, specialists from various countries, and media representatives. It is suggested that the themes and composition of the forum should be expanded annually, thereby presenting the history of Islamic civilization, its current significance, and development prospects to the international public.
The head of Euronews also emphasized the importance of mass media in strengthening ties between Central Asia and Europe. He noted that media should not only function as a data exchange but also contribute to 'building bridges' between different societies and states. Furthermore, special attention was paid to joint international initiatives for youth in fields such as science, education, sports, and culture.
It is worth noting that this forum is traditionally held in Tashkent and Samarkand, gathering about 300 participants from the media and expert community representing nearly 50 countries. Euronews and CNN are the general media partners of the event. Previously, there was mention of starting joint museum and scientific projects between Uzbekistan and China, including agreements between the Center for Islamic Civilization and the Hong Kong Palace Museum regarding exhibitions, expert exchange, and research.
