'Vishwanath and Sons' is a vibrant family film, marking Suriya's 46th movie. Venky Atluri helmed the direction, with Suriya, evergreen South star Radhika Sivakumar, Malayalam star Mamitha Baiju, and former Bollywood actress Ravina Tandon in the lead roles.
In the film, Suriya plays Sanjay Vishwanath, a successful businessman and competitive shooter for the Indian national team. He lives in a luxurious home with his mother, Nirmala Devi, played by Sivakumar.
Heartfelt Narrative
Nirmala Devi sincerely wishes for Sanjay to marry and give her a grandchild. However, at just over forty, Sanjay shows no interest in marriage or fatherhood. A year later, he surprises his mother by returning from San Francisco with a baby boy, but without the child's mother. He tells the press that he became a father through surrogacy.
This revelation shocks Nirmala Devi, as she had hoped Sanjay would have a child through marriage. Sanjay names the baby Abhay, and as the days pass, Nirmala Devi grows closer to her grandson. However, fate deals a heavy blow: little Abhay is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness requiring a bone marrow transplant from one of the parents.
Since Sanjay's bone marrow is incompatible, he must find an anonymous surrogate mother for the bone marrow donation to save his son. The film is rich with suspense, light comedy, and magnificent music. The overall acting quality is rated as first-class.
Sarathkumar brilliantly portrays the caring mother, so realistically that the audience might mistake her for Suriya's real mother, while Sivakumar captivates the public with her skill. Baiju convincingly handles her significant role and is one of the beloved actresses in Kollywood. Suriya excels in action scenes and brings tears to the eyes in emotional scenes. He has an amazing ability to fully immerse himself in any character, and in this role, he delivered one of his best performances.
It was pleasant to see Bollywood actress and former star Ravina Tandon return to Kollywood after her debut in the film 'Saadhu' in 1994, where she starred opposite actor Arjun. She still looks good at the age of 54. The appearance of George Merriam is also a positive point. GV Prakash created another magnificent soundtrack; the song Pattampuchi is a favorite. Nimesh Ravi, who primarily works in Malayalam cinema, shot the film, and his cinematography beautifully captures the picturesque scenes in Belarus, Utti, and the USA.
Director Atluri knows exactly how to create family-oriented films, and he did not disappoint audiences with 'Vishwanath and Sons'. He managed to make the producers laugh until they cried. The film 'Vishwanath and Sons' is an engaging spectacle and is showing at CineCentre Suncoast.
