The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan reported that Uzbekistan and Mongolia held discussions on the further development of cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, transport, and logistics. During these negotiations, new international routes and the digitalization of cross-border procedures were considered.
Representatives, including Dulgun Damdin-Od, Executive Director of the International Analytical Center for Landlocked Countries, participated in the Ministry. The parties noted that trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Mongolia reached 51.8 million US dollars in 2025.
Participants also analyzed the results of the business forum held in May 2026, which gathered representatives from more than 70 Uzbek and Mongolian companies. Special attention was paid to increasing the production of high value-added goods and creating sustainable supply chains.
Furthermore, the parties studied the possibilities of creating new international transport corridors, simplifying trade procedures, and digitizing cross-border operations. The prospects of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project were discussed.
The assessment participants concluded that the implementation of this railway will open up new opportunities for expanding multimodal transport links connecting Mongolia with Uzbekistan, other Central Asian countries, and the South Caucasus.
Following the negotiations, both countries agreed to cooperate in the preparation and holding of the 25th CAREC ministerial conference, scheduled for October 2026 in Ulaanbaatar.
