Turnover volume of payment terminals in Uzbekistan reached 387.35 trillion soms

According to data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the turnover volume of payment terminals in Uzbekistan for the first seven months of the current year amounted to 387.35 trillion soms. As of August 1, 2026, nearly 75.7 million bank cards were in circulation in the country.

The country's payment infrastructure includes 453,500 installed terminals and 47,000 ATMs and information kiosks. Of the total number of ATMs and kiosks, 27,400 are operated by non-bank payment organizations, while the remainder is distributed among 36 commercial banks and the state cashier association UzInkassatsiya Birlashmasi DUK.

Leaders in transaction turnover

During the seven-month period, Aloqabank led the market in transaction turnover through terminals, processing over 41 trillion soms, which accounted for 10.6 percent of the total volume in the country. The National Bank of Uzbekistan (NBU) ranked second with a turnover of 32.2 trillion soms, corresponding to an 8.3 percent market share. The trio was completed by TBC Bank, which showed 25.2 trillion soms, or 6.5 percent.

In the top ten banks by terminal turnover, Hamkorbank was also featured with 22.55 trillion soms (5.8 percent), Ipak Yuli Bank with 21.32 trillion soms (5.5 percent), Uzum Bank with 21.19 trillion soms (5.5 percent), Ipoteka-Bank with 20.67 trillion soms (5.3 percent), Xalq Banki with 20.18 trillion soms (5.2 percent), Microcreditbank with 17.10 trillion soms (4.4 percent), and Agrobank with 16.53 trillion soms (4.3 percent).

Distribution of issued cards

The situation regarding the distribution of issued cards looks different. Xalq Banki remains the leading issuer, having issued over 12.1 million cards, accounting for 16 percent of the total number of bank cards in the country. It is followed by Uzum Bank with 7.2 million cards (9.6 percent), and Agrobank ranks third with 6.8 million cards (9 percent). Among other major issuers were Ipoteka-Bank with 5.67 million cards (7.5 percent), Hamkorbank with 5.24 million cards (6.9 percent), Anor Bank with 5.16 million cards (6.8 percent), NBU with 4.32 million cards (5.7 percent), Ipak Yuli Bank with 3.83 million cards (5.1 percent), TBC Bank with 3.64 million cards (4.8 percent), and Uzpromstroybank with 3.06 million cards (4.0 percent).

Terminal network density

Hamkorbank leads in terminal network density, having more than 68,000 installed devices. It is followed by NBU with 42,500 terminals and Xalq Banki with 34,200. Regarding ATM infrastructure, Xalq Banki ranks first among commercial banks, serving over 3,100 ATMs and information kiosks.

According to data from the National Statistical Committee, the volume of postal and courier services in Uzbekistan for the period from January to June 2026 amounted to 4.2 trillion soms. This figure demonstrates an increase of 18.2% compared to the same period last year.

Distribution of service volume by region

Tashkent accounted for the largest share of the total volume, with 2.3 trillion soms recorded there. The Samarkand region ranked second, providing 462.2 billion soms in services.

Following in terms of service volume were Fergana region with a figure of 300.6 billion soms, Tashkent region with 289.9 billion soms, and Kashkadarya region with 260.4 billion soms. Services in Andijan region reached 167.3 billion soms, while Namangan region registered 112.1 billion soms.

Other regions also contributed: Khorezm region collected 55.8 billion soms, and Sokh region—54.3 billion soms. Bukhara region registered 49.6 billion soms, and Karakalpakstan Republic—44.4 billion soms.

During the reporting period, figures for Syrdarya region (37.8 billion soms), Navoi region (33.5 billion soms), and Jizzakh region (32.3 billion soms) were also noted.

More than half of the total volume of postal and courier services for the first six months of the year was concentrated specifically in the capital, Tashkent, while the combined figures of the other regions were significantly smaller.

According to the Central Bank, as of August 1, 2026, the total number of bank cards in circulation in Uzbekistan reached 75.7 million units.

Since the beginning of the current year, this indicator has shown significant growth, increasing by 7.4 million pieces, which corresponds to an increase of 10.9 percent.

Payment infrastructure development

Parallel to the growth in cards, the number of installed payment terminals also increased during the same period. It rose from 430.8 thousand to 453.5 thousand units, meaning that an additional 22.7 thousand terminals were commissioned, or a growth of 5.3 percent.

Furthermore, the network of ATMs and info kiosks expanded by 17.3 percent, increasing from 40.1 thousand to 47 thousand units.

Dynamics of financial operations

The volume of receipts processed through payment terminals from January to July 2026 amounted to 387.4 trillion soms. It is worth noting that for the entire year of 2025, a similar indicator was 460.3 trillion soms.

With a 10.9 percent increase in the number of cards, terminal turnover grew by 44.3 percent, indicating increased user activity. There was also an increase in average monthly receipts per card—they rose from 562 thousand to 731 thousand soms, reflecting the expanded use of cashless payments in daily needs.

The volume of market services in Uzbekistan for the period from January to June 2026 reached 664.9 trillion soms, representing an increase of 16.9% compared to the same period last year. According to data from the National Statistical Committee, financial services, architectural and engineering services, educational, and communication and information services demonstrated the fastest growth.

The financial sector recorded the highest growth rate at 26.3%. This was followed by architectural services, engineering surveys, technical testing and analysis, which increased by 24.6%.

Educational services grew by 22.7%, while communication and information services showed growth at 22.1%. Growth was also noted in real estate services at 18.3% and medical services at 16.8%, while other services increased by 16.3%.

Trade services grew by 14.9%, transport services by 14.7%, and personal services by 14.2%. More moderate growth was observed in accommodation and catering services (11.6%), computer and household appliance repair (11.4%), and rental services (7.4%).

Thus, among the listed types of services, financial services demonstrated the fastest growth in the first half of 2026, surpassing architectural and engineering, educational, and communication and information services.
