In an emotional video, Sadguru announced that one of the 80 people missing during the pilgrimage to Kelash is a citizen of South Africa. He reported that the group was at an immigration center in Tibet when a sudden flood occurred, and their condition and whereabouts have not been officially confirmed as of now.
Flood in Nepal
Sadguru stated that the group leader contacted him at 9:05 AM to report their arrival at the immigration center. However, since the leader's phone remained inactive, Sadguru does not believe they crossed the border into Nepal. He emphasized that the entire group was inside the building at the time of the incident.
Among the missing are 34 men and 46 women—pilgrims and volunteers from Canada, the USA, the UK, Germany, Singapore, Spain, and Finland. Emotionally noting the scale of the destruction, Sadguru stated that there is no official confirmation, but the situation appears serious because the building where the group was located was washed away, and parts of the city were also affected, leading to a loss of communication.
He added that the relevant embassies in India and Nepal have been notified of what happened. The catastrophic and tragic flood occurred in Gyirong, Tibet, China, and one of the Kelash pilgrim groups was in the epicenter of the disaster. They were in the immigration office on their way back when the flood started, submerging the building and a significant part of the city.
Sadguru expressed deep sorrow for everyone, including volunteers and support teams, and assured that they are making every effort to assist in rescue operations. Currently, there is no official information regarding the location of the people who were in the immigration office. They are cooperating with the authorities to reach the site of the event and be ready to participate in rescue efforts, despite the associated risks.
Out of 21 groups participating in the Sojourn program, 495 people have already returned safely. Currently, 743 people are in Tibet, 148 in Nepal, and 77 people were at the immigration center, along with 3 volunteers in Tumur, Nepal. Sadguru shared the pain with the families and loved ones of those affected and promised that they are sparing no effort during this extremely difficult period, personally being in the region to ensure the best possible outcome under the circumstances.
