Before the Australian U19 team arrives in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India U19 squad. The Mains Selection Committee presented squads for three one-day matches and two multi-day matches.
Particular attention was drawn to the inclusion of Aryavir Sehwag, son of legendary cricketer Virender Sehwag, and Anvay Dravid, son of Rahul Dravid, in the squad for the one-day matches. Devadjit Saikia, Honorary Secretary of the BCCI, confirmed this announcement. The presence of sons of titans like Sehwag and Dravid generates special enthusiasm among young cricket fans. The team is now preparing for a strong performance against Australia U19.
Lakshya Reichandani has been appointed captain for the one-day matches, with Yashbardhan Chauhan as his vice-captain. For the multi-day matches, leadership will be entrusted to Yashbardhan Chauhan, while Lakshya Reichandani will serve as vice-captain.
The squad for the one-day matches includes: Lakshya Reichandani (C), Yashbardhan Chauhan (VC), Rajat Baghel (VC), Aryavir Sehwag, VC Vineet, Kushagra Ojha, Arjun Rajput, Manal Chauhan, Anvay Dravid (VC), V. Yashvir, Rohit Yadav, Shavin Vinod, Mohit Ulwa, Chigurupati Venkata, and Kavya Patel.
The squad for the multi-day matches consists of: Yashbardhan Chauhan (C), Lakshya Reichandani (VC), Sagar Virk, Kushagra Ojha, Manal Chauhan, Kush Patel, Manav Krishna (VC), Abipray Biswas (VC), Rohit Yadav, Ishan Om, Ayan Akram, Pranav Raghvendra, Priyanshu Singh, Mohit Ulwa, and Aryan Yadav.
Three one-day matches and the first multi-day match will take place in Rajkot, while the second multi-day match will be held at Field B in Ahmedabad.
The first one-day match is scheduled for September 18, 2026, in Rajkot at 9 am. The second match will be on September 21, 2026, in Rajkot, and the third on September 23, 2026, in Rajkot. The first multi-day match is set from September 27 to September 30, 2026, in Rajkot, and the second multi-day match will be held from October 5 to October 8, 2026, at Field B in Ahmedabad.
Aryavir Sehwag received his first selection in the India U19 team. The son of the great Indian batsman Virender Sehwag was selected for the series of three one-day matches against Australia in Rajkot in September. Right-handed batsman Aryavir recently played for West Delhi Lions in the Delhi Premier League 2026, where his aggressive style and powerful shots reminded people of his father Virender Sehwag. However, Aryavir's recognition is not new. He attracted public attention by scoring 297 runs in a match against Meghalaya during the Kuch Bihar Trophy in 2024. After playing domestic cricket, the doors to the India U19 team opened for him for the first time.
Furthermore, wicketkeeper Anvay Dravid was included in the squad for the one-day matches. He demonstrated brilliant play, scoring 87 runs during India U19's tour of Sri Lanka in July, and has maintained his spot in the team since then. Nevertheless, neither Aryavir Sehwag nor Anvay Dravid made it into the U19 squad for the two multi-day matches, meaning both young players will only participate in the one-day matches against Australia.
