Construction of six data processing and mining centers worth $5.11 billion has started in Karakalpakstan

Six significant digital technology projects, including three mining complexes and three data centers, have begun implementation in Karakalpakstan. The total cost of these initiatives is estimated at $5.11 billion.

The Chairman of the Jogorki Kenes of Karakalpakstan, Amambai Orynbayev, announced this during the inauguration ceremony for the new facilities, which was attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. According to him, the prevailing conditions allow the region to pay increased attention to both the quality of investments and the implemented projects.

Previously, the creation of a specialized mining zone named Besqala Mining Valley in Karakalpakstan was announced. According to the relevant presidential decree, this zone will cover the entire territory of the region. Within this zone, the use of electricity from the unified power system, as well as renewable energy sources and hydrogen power plants, is permitted.

For companies registered as residents of this zone, substantial tax preferences are provided: their income from mining activities will be exempt from taxes and fees until January 1, 2035. Furthermore, to operate in the zone, a special directorate must be established, and permits for mining are issued by the National Agency for Advanced Projects.

Cryptocurrencies obtained through mining can be traded on domestic national crypto exchanges, international platforms, or exchanged for other types of liquid cryptocurrencies.
