The 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer, which was completely restored by Ringbrothers for the SEMA Show in 2022, will be auctioned by the American auction company Mecum at the end of September.
This restomod underwent a massive modernization and is now equipped with a 6.8-liter V8 engine producing 1217 horsepower. Almost all original parts were replaced, with the exception of the restored chassis.
The body, transmission, and interior were redesigned. The suspension was developed by Roadster Shop and uses Fox shocks and Dana axles, while the engine was prepared by Wegner Motorsport, which includes a massive Whipple supercharger. The transmission is linked to an automatic gearbox from Bowler.
The SUV also received 18-inch wheels, off-road tires, and Baer brakes. The body lacks a hardtop and is protected only by a fabric cover. The interior combines modern elements with direct references to the original model, including seats upholstered in leather strips accompanied by custom-made switches and levers, emphasizing the project's retro concept.
Mecum has not yet disclosed a preliminary estimate or starting price for the auction. Nevertheless, this model represents one of the most extreme projects created by Ringbrothers, known for its work on high-performance restomods.
