BAIC will confirm the launch of the Arcfox sub-brand in Brazil in November with new electric models

BAIC, known as Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd, officially announced its launch in the Brazilian market for November. The Chinese state giant's initial presence in the country occurred during the Interlagos Festival, and the company will begin selling its vehicles this month.

The first vehicles to be introduced in Brazil will be the Arcfox T1 and the Arcfox T5, both classified as electric SUVs but intended for different market segments. Details regarding prices, dealership network, and other specifications will be disclosed in November.

Details about the Arcfox sub-brand

Arcfox constitutes one of BAIC's three automotive divisions, which also owns Foton, already present in Brazil with trucks and the Tunland pickup. This sub-brand focuses on electric vehicles that feature premium-grade finishing. It operates in partnership with Huawei, utilizing the latter's operating system. In China, the line also offers REEV mechanics, which includes an extended range extender.

Arcfox T1 Specifications

The Arcfox T1 will be positioned as BAIC's entry-level model. In China, it competes against the BYD Dolphin and the Geely EX2. Its dimensions are 4.33 meters in length, 2.77 meters in wheelbase, 1.86 meters in width, and 1.57 meters in height. Although classified as a hatchback in China, BAIC launched it as an SUV in Brazil. The version destined for Brazil features a 42.3 kWh battery coupled with a 129 hp motor that drives the front wheels.

The characteristics of the vehicle sold in Brazil include a panoramic sunroof, a 15.6-inch multimedia center with exclusive support for wireless Apple CarPlay, a 540° camera system with three-dimensional visualization, front seats with electric adjustments, heating, ventilation, and memory options, in addition to electric tailgate opening and parking assistance.

Arcfox T5 Features

The BAIC Arcfox T5 is a mid-sized electric SUV, notable for having a very low aerodynamic coefficient of 0.24. Its measurements are 4069 meters in length, 2.84 meters in wheelbase, 1.93 meters in width, and 1.65 meters in height. This SUV configuration for Brazil will come equipped with a 74.4 kWh battery, which supports ultra-fast charging due to its 800-volt architecture. In China, this model is combined with a 272 hp and 36.7 kgfm electric motor.

Although BAIC has not yet disclosed the complete set of equipment for the Arcfox T5, it is known that it features doors that open internally via buttons, a 540° camera, a sunroof, and an ADAS package. The brand plans to present more information about these vehicles and their projects for Brazil in November, studying the possibility of bringing more models and establishing local production, following the example of other Chinese manufacturers.
