On Wednesday night in the northern part of Paris, France, 58 migrants were discovered inside a parked truck. This incident is being investigated in connection with an alleged 'organized underground network' for human trafficking.
The Paris Public Prosecutor's Office informed the EFE agency that all 58 individuals were 'in the cargo compartment of a heavy vehicle without a driver, parked in the Martreau alley, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.'
Judicial sources indicated that the Directorate for Combating Illegal Migration Trafficking is investigating a possible 'crime of aiding illegal entry, movement, or stay of foreigners in France as part of an organized group.'
An official statement noted: 'An investigation has been launched. The goal will be, in particular, to find out whether the truck was intended to transport the 58 migrants to a specific location as part of an organized underground network.'
According to the French publication Actu.fr, among the people found were women, children, and individuals with asylum documents, who were released. However, 26 remaining foreign nationals without residence permits were detained.
Initial data showed that this heavy transport belongs to a company based in Saint-Germain.
