A digital service has been launched in the United States that allows for direct money transfers from the US territory to bank cards of Uzbekistan's national payment systems—HUMO and UZCARD. According to the information agency Dunyo news agency, the service launch took place on the eve of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's state independence.
This service operates on the uPay.net platform, a fintech platform founded by Uzbek entrepreneurs Khusarov Makhmudov and Akmal Abdullaev in New York. The platform was created to provide digital services to users who maintain financial and daily ties with Uzbekistan.
Before the introduction of the money transfer function, uPay.net users could remotely pay for services in Uzbekistan, such as mobile communication, internet, and utilities. Now, the platform also provides the ability to send funds from the USA directly to HUMO and UZCARD cards.
All operations are conducted in a digital format. The company emphasized that special attention was paid to complying with financial regulations in both the US and Uzbekistan during the development and launch of the service, as well as ensuring transaction security and user convenience.
The project created the necessary infrastructure—banking, technological, and compliance infrastructure—for the functioning of the new service, allowing transactions to be processed in accordance with the requirements of the financial services of both countries.
The project initiators also interact with the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York and public organizations of the Uzbek diaspora. These contacts are aimed at meeting the needs of the Uzbek diaspora in the US and further developing digital solutions.
The launch of transfers from the USA is only the first phase of the project. Developers plan to expand the geographical scope of transfers, add additional financial tools, and create digital services for residents of Central Asian countries.
