Uzmetkombinat studies Trina energy storage systems in China

A delegation from the Uzbek enterprise Uzmetkombinat visited the Trina Storage production facility in Zhuzhou, China, on August 26. The purpose of the visit was to study battery-based energy storage systems and discuss their potential application at the metallurgical plant's production sites.

The visit was organized by All Solar, a company that distributes Trinasolar solar modules in Uzbekistan. During the visit, representatives of Uzmetkombinat familiarized themselves with the production and integration processes of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

The parties discussed how such solutions could help the company manage electricity consumption more efficiently, reduce peak load, and increase the reliability of power supply. Trina Storage specialists demonstrated comprehensive solutions based on lithium iron phosphate cell batteries manufactured by the company. These systems include energy and battery management equipment, power converters, liquid cooling systems, and fire suppression systems.

The delegation also inspected the Elementa 3 industrial energy storage system, which uses the company's own battery cells with a capacity of 587 Ah. One container of this system can store up to 6.25 MWh of electricity. Elementa 3 is equipped with early fault detection systems, UL 94-5VA fire-resistant battery modules, and composite walls designed to contain fire spread for up to two hours.

Uzmetkombinat is one of the leading ferrous metallurgy enterprises in Uzbekistan, located in Bekabad. The company produces rolled steel, ball mills, ferroalloys, and other industrial products. The enterprise continues to modernize its production capacities with an emphasis on improving energy efficiency, sustainable development, and rational resource use.

Bahodir Tojimirzaevich Abdullaev, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Uzmetkombinat, stated that the company continues to consider implementing battery energy storage systems to improve energy management efficiency, operational reliability, and long-term reduction of its carbon footprint.

Koo Jung Hyun, Vice President of Trinasolar for the Asia-Pacific region, noted that energy storage systems allow energy-intensive enterprises to flexibly manage electricity consumption, and when combined with renewable energy sources, they improve the efficiency and reliability of power supply.

Following the visit, Uzmetkombinat and Trina Storage agreed to continue discussions on the possibility of using energy storage systems in the metallurgical production.

The company also reported that its technologies have gained recognition from international analytical agencies. According to Trinasolar, S&P Global Energy included Trinasolar in its Tier 1 supplier lists for photovoltaic modules and energy storage systems in 2026. Furthermore, Trina Storage has maintained its status as a Tier 1 energy storage system supplier from BloombergNEF for ten consecutive quarters.

Potential cooperation is being considered in the context of developing energy storage systems in Uzbekistan. According to presented data, the total installed capacity of energy storage systems in the country is expected to reach 4.5 GW by 2030. Trinasolar was founded in 1997 and produces photovoltaic modules, energy storage systems, trackers, and smart energy solutions. According to the company, its products are available in over 180 countries and regions.
