Defender Aden McCarthy, formerly of Kaizer Chiefs, has successfully adapted to his new team, Sabah FC, which managed to pass the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Champions League.
The new Sabah FC defender expressed joy over the team's qualification for the Champions League phase on their first attempt. Sabah defeated Hapoel Beer Sheva 5-2 in the second playoff match on Tuesday, securing an aggregate victory of 6-4. The team reached the final qualification stage after overcoming three intense previous rounds.
Previously, they beat The New Saints 4-1 in the first round, won against Kuopion Palloseura 3-0 in the second, and also passed Aarhus Gymnastikforening 5-2 this month.
McCarthy noted that starting with the Azerbaijani club turned out to be ideal. He easily integrated into the team structure, proving his worth after impressive growth at Kaizer Chiefs over many years.
