Lepas expands its lineup by introducing the electric L6 model for South Africa

The Chinese brand Lepas has confirmed that its electric version of the L6 model is preparing for release in local showrooms across South Africa. This launch follows shortly after the presentation of the standard L6 model.

The public unveiling is scheduled for the motorsports festival at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit this weekend, although the exact sales start date and pricing information have not yet been announced.

While retaining the basic silhouette of the gasoline L6 model, the electric L6 features a unique front design: the large radiator grille has been replaced by a more sculpted bumper with sharply triangular headlights. The standard configuration for the EV includes 19-inch alloy wheels.

The front-mounted electric motor delivers 160 kW of power and 275 Nm of torque. A 67.09 kWh battery allows for an official range of up to 450 km on the WLTC cycle. The battery supports both AC and DC charging.

The cabin is equipped with a 13.2-inch vertical touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 540-degree panoramic camera, an eight-speaker Sony audio system, and 50W wireless smartphone charging. It also offers dual-zone climate control, multi-color interior lighting, an electric trunk lid, a panoramic roof, and a wide array of ADAS driver assistance functions.

The seats, upholstered in synthetic leather, feature electric adjustment with heating and ventilation in the front, as well as driver profile memory functionality.

Letitia Harold, Lepas's Brand and Marketing Manager, noted that the L4 model marked the beginning of their journey in South Africa earlier this year, and the upcoming launch of the L6 will allow the local market to advance further. She emphasized that the L6 EV demonstrates the company's commitment to offering consumers greater choice in both models and powertrains.

Lepas is a brand belonging to Chery, which previously released the compact L4 model in 2026, followed by the mid-size L6. The company stated that more detailed information about the L6 EV will be disclosed closer to the launch date.
