The Casa dell'Architettura di Roma has released the second edition of its call for papers, named CONTEMPORANEA, which will take place between October and December 2026. The purpose of this initiative is to support innovative studies and reflections within the field of contemporary architecture.
This call aims to select professionals such as architects, planners, landscape designers, and conservation specialists. Selected individuals must develop an experimental research project to be carried out in the space known as 'Monitor P' at the Casa dell'Architettura di Roma, which functions as a permanent laboratory dedicated to research, production, and knowledge exchange.
Submitted projects must align with the annual theme of the CONTEMPORANEA program, focusing on the concept of 'Contaminations' through interdisciplinary methodologies, design practices, and applied research processes. Proposed Program Structure
Participants are requested to present a detailed research plan for a three-month period, which must include various activities. These include holding an opening event, a three-to-five-day workshop in the 'Monitor P' space at the Casa dell'Architettura, and two conferences or public sessions intended to deeply debate the research topic, inviting both national and international speakers.
The research cycle will conclude with a final exhibition, accompanied by a closing conference dedicated to presenting the results obtained during the research and workshop.
Required Documentation for Application
Proponents must submit an A4 formatted dossier (PDF) containing several essential elements. These include the title, author's name, and a summary of the curatorial proposal, limited to 2,500 characters including spaces. Additionally, it is necessary to attach a selection of up to four representative images, a schedule of planned activities for the three months (on one A4 page), and a cost estimate (also on one A4 page), indicating potential sponsors or partners, if applicable.
Timeline and Submission Process
Important dates have been set: the call opened on Monday, August 3, 2026. The deadline for submitting proposals is Thursday, September 24, 2026, and the results will be published on Friday, October 9, 2026. The project will commence in October 2026.
All submissions must be consolidated into a single PDF file, with a maximum size of 18 MB, and must be sent via email to call@casadellarchitettura.it.
