Volume of postal and courier services in Uzbekistan reached 4.2 trillion soms in the first half of 2026

According to data from the National Statistical Committee, the volume of postal and courier services in Uzbekistan for the period from January to June 2026 amounted to 4.2 trillion soms. This figure demonstrates an increase of 18.2% compared to the same period last year.

Distribution of service volume by region

Tashkent accounted for the largest share of the total volume, with 2.3 trillion soms recorded there. The Samarkand region ranked second, providing 462.2 billion soms in services.

Following in terms of service volume were Fergana region with a figure of 300.6 billion soms, Tashkent region with 289.9 billion soms, and Kashkadarya region with 260.4 billion soms. Services in Andijan region reached 167.3 billion soms, while Namangan region registered 112.1 billion soms.

Other regions also contributed: Khorezm region collected 55.8 billion soms, and Sokh region—54.3 billion soms. Bukhara region registered 49.6 billion soms, and Karakalpakstan Republic—44.4 billion soms.

During the reporting period, figures for Syrdarya region (37.8 billion soms), Navoi region (33.5 billion soms), and Jizzakh region (32.3 billion soms) were also noted.

More than half of the total volume of postal and courier services for the first six months of the year was concentrated specifically in the capital, Tashkent, while the combined figures of the other regions were significantly smaller.

According to data from the National Statistical Committee, during January to June 2026, Uzbekistan's metallurgical industry produced goods worth almost 183 trillion sums. This figure demonstrates a growth of 1.3% compared to the same period last year.

The Navoi region accounted for the largest share of the total production volume, where 120.7 trillion sums were produced in the first six months of the year. The Tashkent region was the second most significant, showing a result of 44.9 trillion sums.

Production in the city of Tashkent amounted to 10.3 trillion sums. This was followed by the Samarkand region with 4.8 trillion sums and the Namangan region, which produced 659.8 billion sums.

Production in the Syrdarya region reached 621.4 billion sums, while the Jizzakh region registered 262.6 billion sums, and the Fergana region recorded 236.7 billion sums.

Metallurgical enterprises in the Bukhara region produced goods worth 185.4 billion sums. The indicator for the Suriyandarya region was 126 billion sums. Production in the Republic of Karakalpakstan reached 67.8 billion sums, and the Andijan region recorded 42.6 billion sums, while the Khorezm region produced 26.8 billion sums.

The lowest volume among the listed regions was noted in the Kashkadarya region, where it amounted to 16.6 billion sums. Overall, the Navoi and Tashkent regions, together with the city of Tashkent, ensured the largest volume of metallurgical production in January-June 2026.

Payment terminal turnover in Uzbekistan reached 387.4 trillion soms for January-July 2026

According to data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the turnover of payment terminals in Uzbekistan for the period from January to July 2026 amounted to 387.4 trillion soms.

During this period, the number of bank cards in circulation increased by 10.9% compared to the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, the average monthly turnover per card grew from 562,000 to 731,000 soms.

As of August 1st, there were 75.7 million bank cards in circulation, compared to 68.3 million on January 1st. Thus, banks issued an additional 7.4 million cards over seven months.

The network of payment terminals also expanded: their number increased from 430,800 at the start of the year to 453,500 as of August 1st, representing an increase of 22,700 terminals or 5.3%.

There is also growth in the number of ATMs and information kiosks. Their quantity increased from 40,100 at the beginning of the year to 47,000 by August 1st, which means an increase of 6,900 devices or 17.3%.

Overall, during the first seven months of 2026, transactions totaling 387.4 trillion soms passed through payment terminals. For comparison, the total turnover for the entire year of 2025 was 460.3 trillion soms.

Despite a 10.9% increase in the number of bank cards, the turnover of payment terminals increased significantly—by 44.3%. The average monthly turnover per card also showed growth, rising from 562,000 to 731,000 soms. This growth in payment infrastructure and terminal turnover reflects the continued development of cashless payments in daily consumer demand.
