The sons of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan have expressed deep concern over their father's health and the conditions of his detention. The sons, Kasim Khan and Suleman Khan, have voiced several serious grievances.
Kasim Khan stated that 73-year-old Imran Khan has been in isolation for a long time. He claims that his father is kept in a small windowless room for almost 23 hours a day.
According to Kasim, about 85 percent of Imran Khan's vision in one eye has been lost. The sons assert that their father's health has significantly deteriorated due to three years of imprisonment. They expressed concern that if he does not receive timely and proper medical treatment, he may not survive until the end of his sentence. Kasim emphasized that although his father is a principled man, his body is beginning to fail him.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan's international lawyer, Gerard Genser, described the prison conditions as slow murder. The second son, Suleman, reported that the family had been unable to contact him for the last six months, and their visa applications had also stalled. He added that he had not seen his father for the past ten months.
Suleman accused the entire system of mistreating and poorly housing his father, pointing to increasing interference from the Pakistan Army. He characterized these circumstances as a human rights violation. Suleman also stated that other international figures, including members of the US Congress and the UK House of Lords, had expressed concern over Imran's health.
Imran Khan's international lawyer, Gerard Genser, also leveled serious accusations, accusing the head of the Pakistan Army, Asim Munir, of running a dictatorial regime.
