A new security feature has been released in the messaging application WhatsApp, which will provide users with enhanced security. This new feature is actually a password facility introduced for two-step verification. Wabetainfo has confirmed this information and stated that this new feature is named 'Account Password for Two Step Verifications' and will soon be available to all users.
WhatsApp mentioned in its blog post that two-step verification has been strengthened and a password has been added to it. This password feature has been released for both Android and iPhone users. The main characteristic of this new feature is that it will use a full password instead of a six-digit PIN, providing an additional layer of security to the account.
This new password will now replace two-step verification. This means that after entering the six-digit code received via SMS, WhatsApp will also ask the user to enter a password. However, users who have already activated two-step verification may need to change their existing PIN to a password when the password feature becomes available.
Some conditions have been set for the password on WhatsApp. This password is not a standard numeric PIN; here, users must create a password using at least eight characters. The company has done this so that users can prepare a strong password for themselves.
If a user forgets their password, they will have the option to reset it, for which email must be used. A link will be sent upon resetting the password, which the user can use to set a new password.
