Residents of Srinagar are forced to live in toxic air. This huge garbage mound exposed the harsh reality of the city to the entire country. Notably, governments have spent millions of rupees on cleaning up this waste mass, but the results have been zero.
It is claimed that serious diseases are spreading around this garbage mound, leading to people's deaths.
Due to the rising water levels in the Ganges and Yamuna rivers in the Daraganj, Prayagraj area, an emergency situation has arisen. The water has flooded shanties, leading to a complete disruption of local residents' lives. People are trying to save their belongings while the administration has announced the activation of flood relief points to monitor the situation.
In the city of Prayagraj, which is the confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers, the water level is constantly rising. Because of this, low-lying settlements in Daraganj are under threat of flooding. The water has submerged the homes of poor families, and many shanties are completely underwater. Residents are busy moving children and household items to safe places, and the flooding has made daily life extremely difficult.
Affected residents note that this situation recurs every year, but a permanent solution is not being found. They also complain that they receive insufficient help in times of need. Many families are forced to live outdoors, trying to somehow save their property by moving it to higher ground.
The rising water level has also affected religious sites. Some steps of Dashashwamedh Ghat in Daraganj are underwater due to the Ganges. Despite this, pilgrims continue to arrive at the ghat for ritual bathing. Nevertheless, the administration constantly urges people to exercise caution and avoid deep water.
The local administration is closely monitoring the entire situation. Flood relief points have been activated by order of the District Magistrate, and teams from relevant departments are monitoring vulnerable areas. The administration states that the water level is being monitored around the clock, and rescue and aid operations will be immediately launched if necessary.
Currently, annual floods are becoming a serious problem for families living in these settlements. Residents' attention is now focused on receiving assistance and support from the administration. Although the water level in both rivers remains below the danger mark at the moment.
A major incident occurred early Wednesday morning in the Ghatkopar Pashchim area of Mumbai. While residents were sleeping in shanties, a large part of the mountain suddenly collapsed onto the dwellings. The accident happened around three o'clock in the morning.
The landslide affected approximately 6-7 shanties. Two bodies have been recovered so far. There are suspicions that another 4-5 people may be trapped under the debris.
According to eyewitnesses, 5-6 people have already been brought out from under the rubble, while two fatalities have been found. Nevertheless, there is a possibility that 4-5 people are still blocked under the wreckage.
Teams from NDRF, the fire service, BMC, and the police are working at the scene to conduct rescue operations. Attempts are being made to extract people from under the debris, but narrow passages are creating difficulties for the rescue operation.
DCP Ganesh Shinde reported that the landslide occurred in the Ashoknagar area due to the rains. He confirmed the discovery of two bodies and stated that the search and rescue operation is ongoing. DCP Ganesh Shinde emphasized that all agencies, including BMC, NDRF, the fire service, and police personnel, are participating in the rescue campaign, and the assumption remains that 4-5 people might be buried under the debris, while rescue efforts are actively underway.
It should be noted that a similar incident occurred in Charag Nagar in the Gausia shanty in Kurle near Rathore Medical around 3:48 AM.
Earlier, on July 30, a four-story building collapsed in Bavandi, resulting in 10 deaths.
