Chery has started pre-sales of the Luxeed RX in the Chinese market. This vehicle is a fully electric coupe SUV, resulting from a collaboration developed with Huawei, and is part of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA).
The car features considerable dimensions, measuring 5.02 meters in length, 2.01 meters in width, and 3 meters between axles, positioning it at a level comparable to competing models such as the Xiaomi YU7.
Visually, the design received input from Werner Gruber, a former exterior designer for Ferrari. Previously, he worked on notable projects such as LaFerrari, FXX-K, and Portofino before moving to Saleen.
Mechanically, the model is available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive options. The top-tier all-wheel-drive version utilizes Huawei's DriveOne electric system, which combines front and rear motors to generate a total power of 437 kW, equivalent to 586 horsepower. Furthermore, there is a 'boost' mode activated by the steering wheel, capable of momentarily increasing torque by 10%, with a reported reaction time of just 1 millisecond.
The energy system is equipped with batteries ranging from 81.1 kWh up to capacities close to 100 kWh, ensuring a maximum range of up to 852 km according to the optimistic Chinese CLTC cycle. The technological package includes two-chamber pneumatic suspension, adaptive damping, six-piston brake calipers, and advanced steering assistance systems equipped with LiDAR technology.
Manufactured at Chery's facility in Wuhu, the Luxeed RX underwent rigorous battery tests, including extreme lane-change maneuvers at speeds exceeding 250 km/h. The automaker has not yet disclosed the final selling prices for the vehicle.
