Google announced on Tuesday (08/25) Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a new artificial intelligence platform aimed at law firms and legal departments. This tool aims to help accelerate the analysis of judicial processes, being developed to combat inaccurate responses, known as hallucinations, where AIs cite non-existent laws or precedents.
The service integrates specialized agents to perform various legal tasks, such as document drafting, contract review, and monitoring legislative changes. This launch is part of Google's broader strategy to adapt Gemini to meet specific sectors, parallel to the announcement of Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services.
Gemini Enterprise for Legal was designed with agents focused on routine legal activities. To ensure its functionality, the platform uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to establish connections with various services, including Thomson Reuters, DocuSign, iManage, NetDocuments, RelativityOne, Harvey, Everlaw, Legora, Solve Intelligence, and Courtroom5, in addition to accessing the public repository CourtListener.
Regarding the protection of sensitive data, Google established that confidential information, such as user files, queries, and prompts, will not be used to train Gemini models. Additionally, the content remains restricted to the corporate environment, allowing permissions to be limited only to individuals directly involved in a specific case.
For the implementation of this solution, Google counts on the support of companies such as Deloitte—which had previously faced public issues for publishing AI-generated documents with hallucinations—Accenture, KPMG, Devoteam, and Factor Law. Currently, Gemini Enterprise for Legal is in the testing phase, and Google has not specified a date for its general release or whether there will be international expansion through partnerships.
Along with the legal version, Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services was presented, aimed at financial institutions, investment funds, and capital market companies. This platform incorporates a financial research agent managed by Google itself, designed to automate market analyses, produce audits, calculate confidence levels, and answer other requests.
The system has direct integration with crucial databases for the sector, such as S&P Global, Moody’s, FactSet, LSEG, PitchBook, MSCI, and SEC Edgar. Furthermore, the tool can be used within common software like Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Google Sheets.
