Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann approved a salary increase for teachers at Adarsh schools on Tuesday. According to official data, the monthly salary of these teachers will increase from approximately 10,000 rupees to over 22,000 rupees.
This decision, according to officials, will affect about 1100 teachers and confirms the state government's commitment to the idea that those who shape the future of Punjab should receive fair compensation, respect, and proper recognition.
Mann stated that his government will continue to protect the interests of educators, as strengthening the education system and securing the future of every student begins with empowering the teachers who create it.
Chairing a meeting with a delegation of teachers, Mann noted that previous administrations had neglected the teaching community despite its key role in shaping Punjab's future. He emphasized: 'Teachers are the foundation of our education system. For almost two decades, these teachers have served selflessly despite receiving meager salaries. Our government has decided to correct this long-standing injustice by increasing their salaries by more than 120 percent.'
The minister announced that teachers will not only receive increased pay but will also be provided with conditions similar to those in Kendriya Vidyalaya schools, which will improve their working conditions. These schools, affiliated with CBSE, currently educate over 15,000 students.
He also assured that the state government is fully prepared to protect the interests of both students and teachers. Mann added: 'When teachers feel safe and respected, students receive a better education. Our priority is to protect the interests of teachers so that the future of every child studying in these schools remains secure.'
Mann concluded that all legitimate demands of the Adarsh school teachers have been met after many years of neglect by past governments. He stressed: 'Our government is committed to the well-being of all segments of society. We have met the legitimate demands of these teachers and will continue to ensure they can perform their duties smoothly and without problems.'
