Chevrolet prepares launch of Dolphin Mini, based on Wuling Bingo Pro, with estimated price below R$ 120 thousand

Chevrolet is developing a new compact electric vehicle aimed at the Brazilian market. This model, which is based on the Wuling Bingo Pro, is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2027, possibly arriving in March. The main competitors anticipated for this car are the BYD Dolphin Mini and the Geely EX2, and the expected price points toward the R$ 120 thousand range.

This new project is the result of a collaboration between Chevrolet and the Chinese company SAIC. There is a possibility that its production will take place at the Ceará Automotive Hub, located in Horizonte, where other electric vehicles from the manufacturer are already produced. In June, Chevrolet had confirmed that the factory would receive a third model, although specific details about the vehicle had not yet been officially disclosed.

Although the model name has not yet been defined, one of the options considered is to revive the name 'Celta', referencing the popular hatchback. If this option is confirmed, the Chinese Bingo Pro model will arrive in Brazil with an identity adapted to the needs of the national market.

The introduction of this vehicle will be relevant for Chevrolet to increase its presence in the entry-level electric car segment. Currently, the Spark EUV occupies this position in the product line, but its sales figures have been modest; in July, only 330 units were registered, representing less than a third of the sales of the GAC Aion UT and just over 5% of the registrations of the Geely EX2.

In terms of specifications, the Wuling Bingo Pro has intermediate dimensions between the BYD Dolphin Mini and the Geely EX2. It measures 4.05 meters in length, 1.76 meters in width, 1.58 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.56 meters. The trunk offers a capacity of 380 liters, supplemented by an additional front compartment of 30 liters.

Internally, the Bingo Pro features two screen panels, including an 8.8-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch multimedia center. Regarding performance, its front electric motor generates 88 horsepower and can be paired with 32 kWh or 38 kWh batteries. In the Chinese NEDC cycle, the range varies between 330 km and 403 km, depending on the chosen configuration.

The vehicle supports fast charging, allowing the charge to go from 30% to 80% in approximately 15 minutes. Furthermore, it incorporates V2L functionality, which allows the energy stored in the battery to power electrical equipment with up to 3.3 kW. In China, the model is sold for values between 58.5 thousand and 72.8 thousand yuan (which is equivalent to about R$ 43 thousand and R$ 53 thousand), while in Brazil, it is predicted to be positioned near R$ 120 thousand.
