The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has completed a comprehensive set of works to modernize the road network in six zones adjacent to schools across the emirate. The objective of these initiatives was to reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety for students, parents, and educational staff.
The work was carried out during the summer holidays and benefited more than ten schools located in the Wadi Al Safa 4, Al Barsha, Umm Al Sheif, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City, and Al Sufouh areas.
Key projects included the construction of a new road connecting Al Kudra Road and Hessa Street through the territories of Dubai Motor City and Dubai Studio City. This new route improves access to GEMS Metropole Schools – Motor City.
Furthermore, RTA doubled the parking capacity at Horizon International School in Umm Al Sheif by adding new spaces. Entrances and exits of the service road near the school complex in Al Barsha South were also improved, and ground-level traffic enhancements were implemented in Al Sufouh around The International School of Choueifat – Dubai.
In the Wadi Al Safa 4 area, the authority updated the road near GEMS Winchester School – Dubai and installed speed reduction and safety measures near neighboring schools.
RTA stated that all these projects are part of broader efforts to strengthen connections between residential, educational, and developing areas, making daily trips to school more convenient and safer.
Completing the work during the school holidays minimized inconvenience for drivers, allowing them to take advantage of lower traffic periods and accelerate project implementation.
The authority strongly urges parents and school bus drivers to use designated pick-up and drop-off points, avoid stopping in spaces reserved for People with Special Needs or emergency services, and remain vigilant regarding children moving near school entrances.
Drivers were also reminded of the necessity to reduce speed near schools, obey traffic signs, and stop when school buses signal danger, which contributes to creating a safer environment for all road users.
