In Uzbekistan, ahead of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of independence, 163 new facilities with a total value approaching 50 trillion soums were commissioned. These facilities include 72 large industrial and service projects, as well as 91 objects related to the social sphere. The launch of these projects is expected to create 15 thousand jobs and bring approximately 1 trillion soums in additional annual revenue to the budget.
The commissioning of the new facilities took place simultaneously across all regions of the country via video conference with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Development of Energy and Industry
The largest share of new energy capacity belongs to the Syrdarya region, where facilities with a total capacity of 1,573 megawatts have been launched. In Karakalpakstan, a wind power plant with a capacity of 200 megawatts, equipped with an energy storage system of 100 megawatts, was started. Additionally, in Navoi region, new energy solutions will ensure the generation of 657 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
Industrial initiatives have also been implemented in Andijan, Namangan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, and Tashkent regions. These new production capacities will be involved in producing textile, knitted, and carpet products, as well as metallurgical and other industrial products, which contributes to increasing exports and reducing dependence on imports.
Social Infrastructure and Education
A significant part of the new facilities consists of social sphere institutions: 36 kindergartens, 43 schools, 3 hospitals, and 7 higher education institutions have been opened. The 'New Uzbekistan' University complex operates in New Tashkent, designed to educate 7 thousand students. A School of Rectors has been established at this university in collaboration with Harvard University, and the launch of an educational hub for improving public servant qualifications is planned with Oxford University. The Institute of Artificial Intelligence will open in the same location starting October 1st.
A new National Library was commissioned in the capital, covering an area of 30 thousand square meters. This five-story building can accommodate up to 1,500 readers simultaneously, and its book fund exceeds 200 thousand volumes.
New buildings for the University of Economics and Pedagogy have appeared in Karshi, valued at 400 billion soums. These buildings will accommodate 3 thousand students, and another 700 people will find employment. A new medical facility has also started operating in Fergana region, designed to serve 60 thousand patients annually and conduct screenings for 30 thousand women.
According to data, since the beginning of the current year, 56 large industrial and service facilities have been commissioned in the country, with a total value reaching 1.7 billion dollars, providing employment for 8.8 thousand people.
Long-Term Economic Achievements
The President emphasized that over the past decade, Uzbekistan's economic volume has increased by more than two and a half times. During the same period, $160 billion in foreign investment was attracted, 2,163 large industrial facilities totaling $76 billion were launched, and nearly 6 million permanent jobs were created.
At the ceremony, Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to all participants in the implementation of new facilities: investors, entrepreneurs, builders, engineers, and designers. Finally, the President symbolically activated the commissioning of 72 large investment projects and 91 social sphere facilities.
