The Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Ilzat Kasimov, met with Wang Kang, Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of China (Eximbank of China), in Tashkent on August 25, 2026. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss expanding financial cooperation and implementing joint investment projects.
The total portfolio of joint projects between Uzbekistan and Eximbank of China currently exceeds 5.7 billion US dollars. A telecommunications project worth 500 million dollars, supported by the bank, is currently in the active implementation phase.
Projects Under Discussion
During the negotiations, seven potential projects totaling 1.05 billion dollars were discussed. These initiatives cover key development sectors such as hydropower, water infrastructure, agriculture, and transport.
Among the priority infrastructure projects reviewed at the meeting was the construction of the Pungan–Namangan highway. Following the talks, both sides reaffirmed their determination to accelerate the implementation of priority initiatives and increase the overall volume of the joint investment portfolio.
