Portfolio of joint projects between Uzbekistan and China through the Export-Import Bank exceeds $5.7 billion

The joint portfolio of projects between Uzbekistan and the China Export-Import Bank (Exim Bank) has reached the mark of $5.7 billion. This information was presented during a meeting between Ilzat Kasimov, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, and Van Kan, Vice President of the bank.

During the meeting, the parties discussed seven promising projects totaling $1.05 billion. These projects cover areas such as hydropower, water infrastructure, agriculture, and transport.

Among the discussed projects is the reconstruction of the Pungon–Namangan highway. This road connects the center of the Namangan region with the direction towards Tashkent. The project will involve the reconstruction of 75 kilometers of the road, which will be transformed into a four-lane highway with a cement-concrete pavement. The cost of this project is estimated at $246 million, and the Chinese company 'CITIC Construction' is participating in its construction.

Currently, a telecommunications project worth $500 million is also being implemented with the participation of Exim Bank. The credit agreement for this project was signed in June 2025 as part of the modernization program for the telecommunications infrastructure of 'Uzbektelecom'.

Exim Bank is also involved in projects in the water management complex sector. A project on the reconstruction of irrigation infrastructure in Bukhara, Namangan, and Surkhandarya regions (main contractor: 'CITIC Construction') is valued at $160 million. Additionally, a project in Kashkadarya region (main contractors: 'CITIC Construction' and 'China CAMC Engineering') is valued at $60 million.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue discussing key projects and expanding the joint investment portfolio.
