According to a Bloomberg report, Apple plans to introduce the new Mac mini approximately two years after the previous model. It appears that the tech giant is accelerating the development of the Mac mini due to unexpectedly high demand for the device among users who use it for local execution of artificial intelligence models.
Although Apple declined to comment on Bloomberg's inquiries, the publication reported that the company has tested both M5 and M6 versions for the update. However, this is not the only product slated for release in the new Apple lineup.
An OLED display iPad mini is expected from Apple by October, while the main product launch is scheduled for next month. Furthermore, Apple is apparently preparing to release a new generation of MacBook Pro models equipped with M6 chips. The base 14-inch MacBook Pro model is expected to be one of the first machines to utilize Apple's two-nanometer chip technology.
Apple users worldwide are awaiting the official release date for the company's new product line. Although the date has not been officially announced, it is anticipated to be the largest hardware launch of the year. According to Macworld, significant releases will include the iPhone Fold and a redesigned iPhone 18 Pro, with substantial improvements such as under-display Face ID and an OLED iPad mini.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 2028 is expected to refine the dramatic design that Apple is reportedly preparing for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in 2027. This device could potentially feature an all-edge curved OLED display, giving the impression of an almost seamless glass slab.
Apple is also considering using tandem OLED technology, similar to that used in the iPad Pro. By stacking additional light-emitting layers, the display can achieve higher brightness, better energy efficiency, and a longer lifespan. Nevertheless, opinions are divided on whether this technology will be ready in 2028 or later.
The Dynamic Island may also become smaller. Display analyst Ross Young predicts that in 2028, Apple will move more Face ID components under the screen, although the front camera may still require a small cutout.
Inside, high-end models are presumed to use the A22 Pro processor, manufactured using TSMC's 1.4-nanometer A14 process. TSMC claims that this technology can deliver 15 percent higher performance than its 2nm process or consume up to 30 percent less energy at the same speed. Production is planned for 2028.
Regarding the camera, Apple has reportedly evaluated a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, which would allow for greater detail and flexibility when cropping zoomed-in photos. Both supply chain reports and analyst research point to 2028 as the earliest realistic launch period.
