The Iranian women's national volleyball team has reached a historic milestone, rising two places to secure 40th place in the latest FIVB world rankings.
This breakthrough was achieved after Iran defeated Iraq at the AVC 2026 Asian Continental Championship, which allowed the team to advance to the continental tournament playoffs.
As a result of this performance, Iran climbed to 40th place globally, accumulating 109.82 ranking points, marking the highest position ever achieved by the country's women's national team.
This upward trend continues within an impressive period for Iranian women's volleyball. Just a few days ago, Iran secured a historic victory over Taipei, enabling the team to surpass the 100-point mark in the world rankings for the first time.
Entering the top 40 globally is considered a significant achievement for Iran, demonstrating the team's progress on the international stage. The recent results at the Asian Championship have not only strengthened Iran's ranking but also provided valuable momentum for the team in its campaign against leading Asian volleyball nations.
Ahead of the playoffs, Iran will now aim to build upon its historic ascent and potentially climb even higher in the FIVB rankings.
