A blue laser capable of detecting and destroying mosquitoes in the air is now available for pre-order. The Photon Matrix Blue Laser Mosquito Air Defense device combines LiDAR, millimeter wave radar, and artificial intelligence technologies to locate insects.
Photon Matrix developed this apparatus for outdoor use, such as in yards, campsites, or during outdoor events. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, the company increased production and began international distribution.
The system uses a LiDAR scanner to monitor an area of up to six meters within a 90-degree angle. When the system detects a potential target, an internal mechanism called a galvanometer directs the laser and shoots at the mosquito.
According to the manufacturer, the device can identify insects as small as 2 millimeters, flying at speeds up to 1 meter per second. The company also claims that the equipment is designed to distinguish mosquitoes from other flying insects, such as butterflies, and recognize a wide variety of species.
The choice of blue laser color is due not only to technical necessity. According to the company, the color was chosen primarily for its visual effect.
Each kill can be tracked through the device's application. Users can view a thermal map, data on detected mosquitoes, a history of kills, and even a global ranking.
Furthermore, the system's operation can be controlled via smartphone. The app allows users to change the range and scanning angle, as well as set activation and deactivation schedules.
Photon Matrix states: 'Our intelligent mosquito anti-air defense system is powered by LiDAR detection and tracking technology.' The company explains that 'the combination of AI vision, real-time tracking, and high-precision laser destruction creates a smarter solution for physical mosquito control without using chemicals.'
The outdoor version is equipped with a 20,000 mAh battery with fast charging, providing autonomous operation for about four hours of continuous use. A rotating base allows the device to turn 360 degrees, expanding the scanning area.

The outdoor model is sold for $1,088 USD (approximately 5,580 Brazilian Reals) during the pre-order period, which is lower than the original price of $1,288 USD (approximately 6,600 Brazilian Reals). The indoor version costs $988 USD (approximately 5,070 Brazilian Reals), compared to $1,188 USD (approximately 6,090 Brazilian Reals).
The company provides a 12-month warranty and free shipping. As production is still ramping up to meet demand, availability and delivery times depend on the shipping region.
