The Abu Dhabi Police announced the implementation of an integrated plan aimed at ensuring student safety following the summer holidays as part of the new 2026–2027 academic year. This plan covers not only physical safety but also aspects such as social media awareness, prevention of cybercrimes, and anti-bullying measures.
Employing a multifaceted approach, the Abu Dhabi Police seeks to ensure that students feel safe, happy, and well-adjusted at the beginning of the academic period. The back-to-school season is often accompanied by increased traffic flow, as children are dropped off and picked up from schools across the emirate daily, which raises the risk of road accidents.
A special road scheme has been developed to guarantee road safety and efficient movement. A series of lectures and educational events are planned for drivers, school transport operators, students themselves, parents, school administrations, and school bus managers to create a safe environment for travel to and from school.
The plan also includes patrolling and the presence of traffic controllers on the first day of classes at intersections, internal and external roads, and around educational institutions. These patrols will monitor traffic, facilitate the smooth operation of school buses, and improve flow during peak hours. Furthermore, they will monitor pedestrian crossings and ensure student safety from exiting transportation until arriving at the school gates.
The police's criminal security sector has prepared a comprehensive awareness program for students, teaching, and administrative staff, as well as parents. This program includes seminars and lectures on various issues of safety and public life, such as the dangers of drugs and their impact on society, the prevention of cybercrimes (including online abuse and cyber-extortion), fostering positive citizenship, and proactively raising safety awareness among students.
The Abu Dhabi Police emphasized that student safety is a shared responsibility requiring the participation of families, schools, drivers, and all members of the local community.
