A detailed medical warning and guideline have been issued for all government, aided, and private schools in Delhi. The main goal of this initiative is to prevent the spread of the infection within educational institutions and to raise awareness among students and staff.
Main symptoms and identification of H1N1
According to the education department's guideline, school administration, teachers, and parents must closely monitor the health of children. Among the main possible signs of H1N1 are listed the following symptoms: fever, cough and sore throat, headache and muscle aches, as well as difficulty breathing and severe fatigue.
Strict guidelines for schools
Schools have been instructed to encourage students to wash their hands regularly using soap and water. It is also recommended to wear masks in crowded places if necessary. Instructions have been given regarding regular cleaning and disinfection of classrooms, desks, and frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs and switches. Maintaining distance from sick individuals or students with symptoms is required.
It is also mandated to cover the mouth and nose with a tissue or elbow when sneezing or coughing, and used tissues must be disposed of properly immediately. A special information campaign will be launched to prevent spitting on school grounds and in public places.
Health and prevention tips
The guideline emphasizes that antibiotics or other medications should not be taken without consulting a doctor. Students are advised to drink enough water, eat healthy food, and get plenty of rest. If a child develops symptoms, they should stay home and not be sent to school. Furthermore, H1N1 prevention measures will be actively promoted through morning assemblies, information boards, and digital platforms in schools. Deputy Directors of Education (DDE) have been assigned responsibility for strictly monitoring compliance with these directives in the schools of their respective districts.
