Mujahid George begins national tour to celebrate three decades in entertainment career

Mujahid George, an artist born in Cape Town, is celebrating three decades of his work in the entertainment industry. His career began with a performance at the age of eight at Green Point Stadium, and he later took to international stages alongside global stars.

Mujahid's journey started in December 1996 when he won first place in the 'Juvenile Sentimental' category at Green Point Stadium, now known as Cape Town Stadium. What began as a childhood performance subsequently turned into a permanent profession.

Ten years later, meeting Grammy winner George Benson at a major festival in Cape Town inspired the young performer to dream of more than just singing. Shortly after, Mujahid was invited to perform at the celebration of Malaysia's 50th Independence Anniversary. The following year, he returned and shared the stage with Grammy winner Celine Dion.

Since then, his career has taken him from major South African venues to international arenas in Dubai, Qatar, New Zealand, and Australia. During his career, he has collaborated with some of the world's most famous musicians, including All 4 One, Bryan McKnight, Boyz II Men, and Tevin Campbell.

The path has not always been easy. After a peak related to FIFA 2010, a period of quiet forced Mujahid to rethink his approach to the industry. He noted: 'These quiet months taught me to be creative. Instead of waiting for work, I learned to create the moment.'

The artist thanks his family, mentors, and industry friends for shaping his career, particularly the Dubai vocalist Nasir Tim Holland, who brought him to Johannesburg and introduced him to theatre.

Today, Mujahid is an international producer, performer, and director. Recently, the city honored him for his contribution to South Africa, and he continues to support important causes as an ambassador for the Children's Hospital Trust and Gift of the Givers.

His '30 Years Celebration Tour' kicks off at Poppy’s Cresta in Johannesburg on Friday, October 2nd, featuring Alistair Isobel, Lukman Adams, and his brother Mo George. The tour continues in Gqeberha on October 3rd and concludes in Cape Town on October 31st. Tickets are available on Webtickets and at Pick n Pay stores.

Global Event Held in Beijing to Promote Honghe Culture and Tourism for 2026

On July 31st, the Global Event for Promoting Honghe Culture and Tourism in 2026 took place at the New Media Tower of the People's Daily in Beijing. The event was organized by the Culture and Tourism Administration of the Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, located in southwestern China, and aimed to present the prefecture's tourism resources and cultural brand to a global audience.

Honghe is the only destination in the world that simultaneously holds the status of a UNESCO World Heritage site, a World Significant Agricultural Heritage System site, and a World Heritage Irrigation Works site. These achievements are based on the Hani rice terraces, the ancient city of Jianshui, and the China-Vietnam Railway.

The thirteen counties of the region offer various types of tourism, including wellness, rural, and cross-border tourism, facilitated by its location facing Southeast Asia. Zhang Musing, Deputy Governor of the Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, highlighted the region's natural advantages, such as over 60% forest cover and its status as China's first prefectural 'natural oxygen bar,' as well as local delicacies like Mensi blueberries and pomegranates.

The Honghe Culture and Tourism Administration also signed a cooperation agreement with the Yunnan channel of the People's Daily newspaper for the joint promotion of the region's tourism brand. A global campaign to collect slogans for Honghe's intellectual property was launched during the event.

Tan Weihun, Vice President of People's Daily Online, noted the platform's wide reach across 18 foreign languages and nearly 1.2 billion users, as well as its growing role in creating AI-based content, which is a key advantage in supporting Honghe's efforts to enhance international recognition. A virtual AI tourism ambassador, 'Honghe Niuniu,' was also presented at the event, along with stories from a traveler and blogger, and the public was called upon to submit slogans reflecting Honghe's appeal.
