The first international forum dedicated to the development of medical tourism has begun in Tashkent. The event gathers over 150 participants from countries such as Russia, Belarus, Armenia, South Korea, India, and others.
The forum includes leaders of medical institutions, doctors, international experts, representatives of medical tourism agencies, and insurance companies. The main goal of the conference is to strengthen international cooperation, expand the export of medical services, attract foreign patients, and develop medical tourism in Uzbekistan.
During the first day, issues were discussed regarding ensuring high-quality and safe medical services for foreign patients, improving specialists' qualifications, and promoting Uzbekistan's medical potential on the global market.
The Director of the Agency for Medicine and Pharmaceutical Development reported that approximately 80 thousand foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan in 2025 to receive medical services. He noted that the growth in the flow of foreign patients contributes to attracting state and private investments into the healthcare system, expanding international cooperation, implementing modern medical equipment, and creating conditions that meet international standards in clinics.
Furthermore, the agency director emphasized that special attention is paid to training and improving the qualifications of medical workers. He mentioned that Uzbek doctors are undergoing training in France and Germany as part of international cooperation, mastering modern treatment methods, including retraining specialists in surgery.
The forum examined possibilities for applying robotic surgery in medical tourism, high-tech cardiological methods for treating complex heart diseases, and modern approaches to diagnosing and treating oncological diseases in women. Great attention was also paid to the digitalization of medicine, the implementation of innovative technologies, and the use of artificial intelligence in diagnosis, treatment, and patient care processes.
Anna Pashayan, a forum participant from Armenia, noted that Uzbekistan pays great attention to developing modern medical tourism. She added that the forum provides an opportunity to establish professional contacts with various experts and exchange experiences with colleagues from different countries.
The forum will run until August 26. The second day's program will be dedicated to expanding international partnerships, exchanging experiences, and discussing new projects in the field of medical tourism.
