Uzbek analytical centers discuss increasing industrial productivity

The Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRI) under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan held a training seminar dedicated to increasing the productivity of industrial enterprises. According to IMRI, specialists from fourteen leading national analytical centers participated in the event.

Methods for assessing enterprise efficiency

Seminar participants studied practical ways to assess the activities of enterprises directly on-site. These methods include mapping production processes to identify resource losses and operational inefficiencies. Special attention was paid to the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) approach developed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Experts also reviewed techniques for minimizing defects and waste using Lean Management, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies. The seminar included a discussion on improving the environmental management of enterprises to meet new global requirements for entry into international markets.

Standards and next steps

In particular, participants analyzed the importance of ISO 14001 and ISO 14064 standards alongside product compliance requirements, such as the CE marking. After the event, attendees were recommended to apply the studied methodologies when evaluating enterprises in the respective sectors and regions of their research organizations. The data obtained should be used to develop targeted recommendations for improving operational efficiency. Furthermore, participants agreed to establish regular interdepartmental cooperation for exchanging experience and methodological materials.
