Uztemiryulovchi JSC provided clarifications regarding the situation with overcrowding on the Sariasia — Termez route, which prompted complaints from passengers forced to travel standing up.
The company explained that when selling tickets for the train, a specific seat is not indicated, and due to a high volume of requests, the number of sold tickets can exceed the actual number of seating places.
Previously, a video recording circulated on social media showing how some passengers were forced to spend almost the entire two-hundred-kilometer journey standing. Elderly people and women with babies were also seen in the video. Additionally, reports were made about the inoperability of the air conditioning system in the carriage.
Representatives of Uztemiryulovchi specified that the train consists of four passenger carriages, each designed for 81 seated passengers. They emphasized that tickets are sold without assigned seats, and passengers independently occupy available seats after boarding.
According to the company, the overcrowding is caused by high demand for this route, which increases particularly during holidays and weekends. However, the company did not disclose the maximum number of tickets that can be sold on one trip.
The issue of lack of cooling is also under investigation. Uztemiryulovchi stated that the carriages must be equipped with cooling systems that operate constantly during the summer period. The company's specialists are currently studying the circumstances recorded in the video.
Following the inspection, the company promised to take all necessary corrective actions.
