The State Labor Inspectorate has issued a warning regarding the coercion of employees to collect votes or participate in voting for the 'Open Budget' project, according to data from the Inspectorate itself.
Citizens who encounter such situations can report them to the inspectorate via a short hotline at number 1176.
Violation of Uzbekistan's Labor Legislation
The agency emphasized that forcing employees to participate in collecting or conducting votes violates the labor legislation of Uzbekistan. According to Article 51 of the Code of Administrative Liability of the Republic of Uzbekistan, administrative forced labor entails a fine ranging from 50 to 100 basic calculation units, which amounts to 20.6 to 41.2 million soms.
In addition to administrative penalties for the responsible parties, establishing facts of coercion can also have consequences for the project itself. Any project where forced employee participation in voting or vote collection is discovered may be excluded from the Participatory Budgeting process.
