The government of the state of Rajasthan has made a significant decision to address the long-standing shortage of teachers in government schools. Amid protests and movements related to the teacher deficit across the state, a decision was made for a large-scale recruitment under the 'Vidya Sambal Yojana' program.
Under this program, 76,000 temporary teachers (guest faculty) will be placed in schools across the entire state.
The Department of Education has established guidelines to ensure transparency and order in the hiring process. It is planned that three applications will be selected for each vacant position, after which the most qualified candidate will be appointed as a teacher based on their qualifications and rating.
Teachers hired under the 'Vidya Sambal Yojana' program will be paid an hourly wage, with maximum monthly limits set as follows:
- Classes 1–8 (primary and middle school): 300 rupees per hour (maximum 21,000 rupees per month)
- Classes 9–10 (middle school): 350 rupees per hour (maximum 25,000 rupees per month)
- Classes 11–12 (high school): 400 rupees per hour (maximum 30,000 rupees per month)
It should be noted that in several districts of Rajasthan, student education suffered due to the lack of subject teachers in government schools. Local parents and students constantly held protests and blocked schools over this issue. The government's decision will not only promptly fill the teacher shortage in schools but also provide employment opportunities for youth.
