During the sacred month of Sawan, thousands of Shiva devotees travel to Babadham. Millions of pilgrims gather in Sultanganj, Bhagalpur district, Bihar state, to draw water from the Ganges and proceed to Deghar. The entire journey is filled with cries of 'Bol Bam,' creating an atmosphere dedicated to Shiva.
In this atmosphere, Sanjeev Kumar from Godda district, Jharkhand, presented a unique example of faith by traveling to the Babadar temple with all his 19 daughters.
Sanjeev has been continuously undertaking a foot pilgrimage to Babadham for the last 40 years. Every year during Sawan, he collects water from Sultanganj and performs the Jalabhishek ritual in honor of Bollenat at Babadham. This time, he began his journey with 19 daughters from his pilgrimage group. When all the daughters arrived at the Kavandriya path in Asarganj, Munger, carrying kavandras in saffron robes, people were amazed.
During this event, people actively supported their enthusiasm. Among these daughters are several who have participated in this journey for ten years. From young girls to young women, there is a deep faith in God. Despite the challenging 105-kilometer route, the scorching sun, and blisters on their feet, the faces of these daughters show not fatigue, but delight from their devotion. Their discipline and selflessness serve as a source of inspiration for other pilgrims.
Sanjeev explained that today's youth are gradually drifting away from their culture and the eternal traditions of Sanatana. In the age of mobile phones and modernity, they forget their roots. Therefore, he decided to connect his daughters with faith and also with culture. He emphasized that true education lies in instilling religion and moral values in his daughters.
The daughters participating in the pilgrimage shared that they feel immense pride in taking part in this journey. They noted that this trek not only strengthens them physically but also helps them connect more deeply with the Sanatana religion on a mental level. They are confident that Mahadeva knows everything and that their wishes will be fulfilled without asking.
