The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated on Monday that the United States is not in an economic position that allows it to continue restricting relations with other states, despite the US Treasury Department announcing 'unprecedented' sanctions against Iran.
In his message on the social network X, Ghalibaf noted that Iran's trading partners 'have clearly made it known that they do not take these statements into account anywhere.'
These statements came amid a threat made by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. He warned countries that allow Iranian money laundering to use the US dollar that any economic interaction with Iran 'will be subjected to the full extent of American power.'
