The well-known Turkish television partnership is returning to the screens as Kenan Imirzalgoğlu and Bergüzar Korel prepare to work on the same project again after more than ten years of collaboration.
Bergüzar Korel has joined the second season of the series A.B.İ. from ATV, playing the role of Leyla—a strong and idealistic woman whose past is closely connected to the character of Imirzalgoğlu's Dogan. This casting marks the reunion of two actors who became one of the most memorable pairs in Turkish television thanks to the series Karadayı.
This news emerged after Afra Saraçoğlu, who played Çağla in the first season, left the series. Her departure raised questions among viewers about who would become Dogan's new main partner.
According to reports from Turkish entertainment publications, Bergüzar Korel was invited for this role and subsequently reached an agreement to join the second season. ATV officially confirmed her participation in the cast, announcing that she will play Leyla.
This character is expected to bring a new dynamic to the plot. Leyla has a connection with Dogan rooted in their past, and their meeting will force both characters to confront the feelings and secrets they thought they had left behind. Leyla's arrival should also heighten the tension and change the relationships within the series.
For Turkish television viewers, this casting holds special significance because Imirzalgoğlu and Korel previously starred together in the series Karadayı. The series aired from 2012 to 2015, where Imirzalgoğlu played Mahir Karu, and Korel embodied Feride Şadoğlu. This pair became one of the central themes of the drama, and the relationship between their characters formed an important part of the narrative. ATV's official archive confirms their roles in this series.
Karadayı concluded its 115th episode on June 15, 2015. Thus, their return to the same television project occurs approximately 11 years after their previous collaboration. However, this time they will not repeat their old roles: Imirzalgoğlu will continue to play Dogan in A.B.İ., while Korel will enter history as Leyla.
Bergüzar Korel's arrival is part of a broader transformation planned for the second season. The series is produced by OGM Pictures, and Yagız Alp Akaydın is the director. Ertan Kurtulan and Eylem Akın are the new screenwriters. According to Turkish reports, production for the second season has already begun.
The first season ended with significant changes in Dogan's story, especially after Çağla's departure. The introduction of Leyla now opens a new chapter for this character and creates a new link to his past. Her mysterious appearance already sparked curiosity during the season finale, when only the legs of the new female character were shown to the viewers. Turkish media subsequently identified Korel as the actress playing this role.
The reunion has generated significant excitement among fans of Turkish television, especially those who remember the chemistry between Mahir and Feride in Karadayı. Mert Demirci, who plays Sefu in A.B.İ., also commented on this reunion, noting that the renewed pairing of Korel and Imirzalgoğlu after Karadayı could lend a different energy to the new season.
Although A.B.İ. will tell a completely different story than Karadayı, the return of the two actors to the same set lends undeniable nostalgic appeal to the second season. After 11 years of separate presence on television, Kenan Imirzalgoğlu and Bergüzar Korel share the screen again—this time as Dogan and Leyla in A.B.İ.
