According to a statement from the Secretary-General of the World Forum for the Convergence of Islamic Currents, the 40th International Conference of Islamic Unity will take place in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad.
Hamid Shahriari announced on Monday that the conference's online sessions have already begun. He added that about 140 foreign guests from 30 countries are expected to participate, with approximately 80 of them arriving in person. Furthermore, four decentralized conferences will be held in the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Golestan, and Razavi Khorasan, according to the IRNA agency.
The main conference will commence on Thursday, August 27, at the International Conference Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and will be attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian. Shahriari also noted that eight books published by the Research Institute for Islamic Convergence will be presented during the event.
The conference program includes a session on the Islamic awakening, participation of foreign guests in Friday prayers, a dinner organized by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghi, as well as a special academic session at the Qom seminary, which is being held for the first time within the framework of this conference.
The event will conclude on Sunday, August 30, in Mashhad, with the participation of Sunni and Shia scholars from neighboring provinces. The conference will address themes of Islamic unity, peace, security, and collective power, paying particular attention to Islamic identity, governance, resistance economy, current events, Palestine and the Levant, as well as the role of religious figures in strengthening cooperation in the Muslim world.
