In connection with the Raksha Bandhan festival, the Food and Drug Control Department intensified its campaign to prevent the sale of counterfeit and contaminated food products in Gotam Buddha Nagar. Department teams conducted inspections at various locations, including the Jewar toll plaza, and collected seven samples of cheese, ghevar, hoi, and rasgulla for laboratory analysis.
As a result of the inspection at a rasgulla manufacturing workshop in Sector-72, Sarphabad, approximately 100 kilograms of contaminated rasgulla, covered with flies and mosquitoes, were discovered. These products were destroyed on the spot by food control department employees.
Second Level Assistant Commissioner of Food, Savresh Mishra, stated that this campaign is being conducted under the direction of the Commissioner of Food and Drug Control of Uttar Pradesh and the District Director. He specified that on the night of August 23, a team of food control employees from OP Singh and Ravindra Nath Verma inspected transport at the Jewar toll plaza.
During this inspection, a sample of cheese being transported from Chaudhary Deori to Pisawa Jalalpur, Aligarh, for supply to Delhi was taken. Additionally, two samples of cheese were collected from Bhimsain Dairy in Bajana, Mathura, intended for supply to Delhi-NCR.
According to the department, on August 24, the team of Amar Bahadur Sarodja took one sample of ghevar from BS Bikaner Sweets in Sector-134. The food control team of Mukesh Kumar and Vijay Bahadur Patel took one sample each of hoi and ghevar from the Shagun Sweets manufacturing workshop located at Plot Number-66, Ecotech-2.
Furthermore, the food control team of Vishal Gupta and Ritu Saxena inspected the Pradip Kumar rasgulla manufacturing workshop in Sector-72, Sarphabad. During the inspection, a sample of rasgulla was taken. It was found that about 100 kilograms of rasgulla were contaminated and covered with insects. Food control department employees destroyed them right there on the spot.
The Second Level Assistant Commissioner of Food stated that all seven collected samples are being sent to the laboratory for testing. He added that such checks will continue due to the approaching Raksha Bandhan festival to ensure the public receives clean and safe food products that meet established standards.
