As the number of households installing rooftop solar energy systems (RTS) under the PM Surya Ghar program grows, and renewable energy capacities increase, the government has decided to track the actual amount of electricity generated by these systems. In accordance with this requirement, inverter manufacturers are obliged to transmit daily generation data to the national portal.
Currently, more than 44 lakh RTS systems have been installed under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), providing energy to over 52 lakh households and adding 15.6 GW of solar capacity.
It was noted that the volume of electricity produced at RTS sites will serve as an indicator of the system's quality. This metric can be used in the supplier evaluation system and will also help optimize maintenance and operation processes. Furthermore, consumers will feel satisfaction from realizing their contribution to improving the state of the environment.
