American researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis that revealed an increased risk of alcohol consumption among adolescents under conditions of high exposure to advertising materials.
According to the analysis results, the risk of alcohol consumption among individuals aged 10 to 20 years increased by 50 percent, although this correlation was considered weak. Particular attention was paid to television advertising, which demonstrated the greatest effect.
Furthermore, the narrative synthesis showed that this relationship is due to changes in the cognitive processes and attitudes of the adolescents themselves. The findings were officially published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics.
