A black bear, approximately one and a half years old, was rescued from a tree located in Denver, Colorado. A tranquilizer was used to remove the animal, resulting in an unsmooth fall.
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Department (CPW) was called on Sunday to handle the incident involving the bear in the tree. CPW confirmed on its social media that it received a call about a bear in Denver.
According to CPW, it was necessary to administer a tranquilizer to the animal to capture it. CPW agents worked together with Denver Police Department officers for the operation. They reported that although the landing was not the smoothest, the bear is fine.
CPW identified the animal as a young male, weighing about 45 kilograms, and stated that it will be transferred to a location where it can roam freely.
Denver authorities mentioned that there has been an increase in bear activity this year, attributing these events to drought conditions and the reduction of available natural food sources.
Between January 1st and August 13th, CPW recorded 6,129 sightings and conflicts with bears. This number represents a significant increase of 3,014 reports compared to the same period last year.
