Residents traveling between Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai will have more public transport options starting Monday due to a revised schedule introduced by the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority. The daily number of bus trips in both directions will increase to 19.
The new timetable, effective August 24, provides for extended operating hours and the addition of extra direct routes between the two emirates. This will allow passengers to depart from Ras Al Khaimah earlier and have the option to return from Dubai late in the evening.
The first bus from Ras Al Khaimah will depart at 5 am, and the last trip from Dubai is scheduled for 11:30 pm, with six direct buses running to Dubai. From Ras Al Khaimah, direct trips will depart at 5:00, 6:00, 7:00, and 8:00 am; after this, trips via Sharjah will operate from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Additional direct departures are scheduled for 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm.
Routes via Sharjah will also operate at 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and 8:00 pm, with the last trip at 9:00 pm following through Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, and Sharjah.
For passengers traveling from Dubai, buses will run hourly via Umm Al Quwain from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Then, direct trips will depart at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, while additional trips via Umm Al Quwain will run at 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm, 8:30 pm, 9:30 pm, 10:30 pm, and 11:30 pm.
This change comes amid the ongoing expansion of Ras Al Khaimah's public transport network and the improvement of connections between residential areas, key destinations, and neighboring emirates.
Earlier this year, the authority relaunched the 'Purple Route' between Al Nahil and Manar Mall, increasing coverage by 14 kilometers and adding nine stops serving important medical, educational, governmental, and commercial facilities. The updated route, which began operation on June 3, has 12 daily trips and connects Al Nahil with places such as Obaidullah Hospital, American University of Ras Al Khaimah, Ras Al Khaimah Hospital, and Manar Mall.
This expansion is part of efforts to provide a more accessible and convenient public transport option for residents and visitors, as well as to support sustainable mobility within the emirate.
