The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has clarified the uncertainty surrounding the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0), stating that the exam will be conducted in two stages. Furthermore, the negative marking system will remain in effect.
BPSC Controller of Examinations, Rajesh Kumar Singh, announced on Monday that TRE 4.0 will consist of Preliminary (Prelims) and Main (Mains) stages. He noted that many large recruitment agencies in the country conduct exams in two phases. The commission also took into account suggestions from the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) while forming the examination process.
The Controller of Examinations also emphasized that the negative marking system will not be abolished and will be applied equally to all candidates.
The commission refuted claims that candidates taking the exam in Hindi or English are assigned different scores. According to BPSC data, candidates are not offered the option to select an examination language when filling out the application form, so BPSC does not have separate data for Hindi or English test-takers.
Regarding the rules for candidates scoring over 60 percent, BPSC specified that if a candidate scores more than 60%, their answer sheets will undergo a re-checking procedure. This does not mean that the candidate cannot score over 60%.
The exact dates for BPSC TRE 4.0 have not yet been announced. The commission stated that the schedule will depend on the total number of applications received. If the number of applications does not exceed 500,000, the exam will be conducted in one day. If the number of applicants exceeds 500,000, the exam may take place over 2-3 days.
In the commission's opinion, there is a high probability of the TRE 4.0 dates being announced in October, with the exam itself potentially taking place in November or December.
