Suzlon Group, a major player in the wind energy sector, intends to increase its investments in the state of Andhra Pradesh. According to the statement, the company plans to invest 10,000 crore rupees as part of its expansion in the region.
The State Minister for Information Technology, Nara Lokesh, is scheduled to inaugurate new blades of the S144 model wind turbine by Suzlon in Huliker village, which falls under the Kanekallu mandal, Anantapur district, on Tuesday.
The statement specified that the investment of 10,000 crore rupees includes the development of 1325 MW of new wind projects in the Rayadurga constituency of Anantapur district. These new projects are expected to provide around 4000 direct and indirect jobs.
Furthermore, Suzlon aims to achieve an additional renewable energy capacity of 5 GW in Andhra Pradesh by 2030. Currently, the state already has over 1700 MW of installed wind power capacity.
The company began its operations in Andhra Pradesh in 2004 and has since established a manufacturing and project base in Anantapur district. Its rotor blade manufacturing plant in Ippuru, Kuderu mandal, is one of the key production facilities and supports wind projects in partnership with leading energy companies, including Tata Power.
The company's total investment in Andhra Pradesh to date amounts to approximately 12,000 crore rupees, including core blade manufacturing operations in Anantapur. This plant accounts for about 40 percent of Suzlon's total blade production, with an annual production capacity equivalent to 1260 MW.
The company's activities have already provided employment to about 2200 people in the state. The Government of Andhra Pradesh and Suzlon are also collaborating on a large-scale green skills development program aimed at training young professionals for the renewable energy sector.
Wind energy training centers have been opened in Uravakonda and Vijayawada, where about 12,000 young specialists are being trained. Women constitute about 25 percent of the trainees, which contributes to increasing opportunities for women's participation in the state's developing green economy.
