New Google Fitbit Air fitness tracker appears in stores before October launch at around 16,000 rupees

The new fitness tracker from Google, Fitbit Air, has appeared in some stores even before its scheduled October launch. Previously, Google introduced the Pixel 11 series of smartphones in India and also announced the release of Fitbit Air in October of this year.

According to photos and reports, this wearable gadget is available in black, blue, and pink colors. The most notable detail is its estimated price, which is around 16,000 Indian rupees, although Google has not yet announced an official price for the Indian market.

Interest in this device is driven not only by its early appearance in retail outlets but also by its unique design: Fitbit Air has no screen. While smart watch manufacturers actively promote large displays, calling functions, and notifications, Google is taking a completely different approach. The goal of Fitbit Air is to track health status and physical activity around the clock without distracting the user with constant screen interaction.

This approach is reminiscent of popular trackers like WHOOP, which focus on recovery and are often used by athletes. Since Fitbit long held leading positions in the wearable category and is now owned by Google, the company presented Fitbit Air as a more affordable alternative to WHOOP, whose subscription is quite expensive.

Google previously confirmed that Fitbit Air would be released in India in October 2026, but the exact start date of sales and the official price in India have not yet been announced. Nevertheless, there have been reports in social media and media outlets that device stock has reached Indian retail stores. One seller reported a price tag of around 16,000 rupees, but this amount should not be considered final.

Buyers are advised to wait for the official announcement, as the in-store price may differ from Google's official price in India. It is worth noting that in the US, Fitbit Air was launched at a starting price of $99.99, equivalent to approximately 9,000 rupees upon direct conversion, but the actual price in India may change due to taxes, imports, and local factors.

The main feature of Fitbit Air is the absence of a display. The user will not be able to view the time, read WhatsApp notifications, or constantly look at the screen. The device will discreetly rest on the wrist and continuously collect health data. All collected information will then be available in the Google Health app on the phone.

Despite its compact size, the tracker is equipped with numerous features: 24-hour heart rate monitoring, heart rate-related information, atrial fibrillation (AFib) alerts in some regions, blood oxygen level (SpO2) measurement, resting pulse rates, heart rate variability (HRV), tracking of various sleep stages, and fitness tracking. Google designed the device to be comfortably worn both day and night.

The battery of Fitbit Air is also a significant advantage. According to the company's statements, one charge lasts for seven days. If the battery runs out, just five minutes of charging can provide approximately one day of operation. A full charge takes about 90 minutes. The device is waterproof and can be used in water, having a water resistance up to 50 meters according to official Google specifications. It includes a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope for tracking movements, as well as red and infrared sensors for SpO2 and a sensor for measuring skin temperature changes.
